Jorge Zalszupin 'Petalas' coffee table
L’Atelier, Brazil, c1960s
£16,000
Beautiful and rare 'Petalas' coffee table, designed by Jorge Zalszupin and produced by his own company, L’Atelier, Brazil, 1959. The Petalas table was inspired by the folded paper forms of origami. It is composed of eight petal-shaped panels of layered Jacaranda set on a circular metal frame, together forming an elegant octagonal shape.
This coffee table showcases the beautiful Jacaranda grain, with dark and light streaks running across the entire tabletop. The tabletop has been refinished and is in good condition, giving it a warm, rich tone that highlights the quality of Zalszupin’s work.
Sourced from São Paulo, Brazil. Overall good condition, with a few slight scratches on the tabletop and wear consistent with normal use.
