Jorge Zalszupin 'Petalas' side tables
L’Atelier, Brazil, c1960s
£8,000
A beautiful and rare pair of 'Pétalas' side tables designed by Jorge Zalszupin and produced by his company, L’Atelier, in Brazil, 1959. The Pétalas series was developed to make creative use of leftover wood from the production of the Andorinha table. Both designs draw inspiration from the graceful forms of folded paper and origami.
This table is made up of four 'Pétalas' sections of layered Jacaranda set on a square wooden base, forming a unified square shape. It features a striking design that highlights the beautiful Jacaranda grain and its distinctive figuring. The wood has been refinished and is in good condition, showing a warm, rich tone.
Sourced from São Paulo, Brazil. In overall good condition, with minor marks and wear consistent with age and regular use.
