for Gavina, Italy, 1960s
£4,400 - set of 2
Kazuhide Takahama, born in Japan in 1930, pursued his education at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He gained recognition when he was selected to design the Japanese Pavilion for the Milan Triennale. During his time in Milan overseeing the project, he met Dino Gavina, who invited him to create furniture designs for his company.
Takahama's work is renowned for seamlessly blending Eastern and Western design philosophies. While his choice of materials and construction techniques reflected a thoroughly modern approach, his creations exuded a timeless simplicity.
In good condition overall, with minor marks on the metal base. One chair has a minor, faint stain that is barely noticeable.
